SeoulPodcast LIVE 100 this Saturday (June 19th)
News View CommentsThe live SeoulPodcast will be this Saturday, June 19th @2 p.m. at Roofers in Itaewon (that’s a lotta prepositions). Stafford, Jen and I–and even Karl–are working on getting a great show together. Here’s what you’ll get.
- Korea’s most famous comedian not on a gag show, Brian Aylward, will be our panelist.
- Chris Wright of Hardtack ‘n’ Gruel will be the musical guest.
- Roofers is kind enough to offer a Burger & Beer special for W10,000.
- MORE little known facts about Korea.
- SeoulPodcast-related trivia questions where we’ll buy YOU a beer for a change.
If you’re on Facebook, “Like” the SeoulPodcast and RSVP for the event. It’s free, and you don’t need to RSVP. We just want the bragging rights that go with numbers. It looks like some “celebrity” bloggers will show.

LIVE SeoulPodcast at Roofers, June 19th
News View CommentsThat’s right!
We’re nearing episode #100, and we want to celebrate it with our listeners. So mark your calendars for June 19th and meet us at the rooftop of Roofers in Itaewon for a live show with a live audience (you, really).
In order to entice you there, the kind folks at Roofers have set up a deal where you can get a burger and beer for W10,000.
Stay tuned here and on our Facebook and Twitter pages for details as they arise.

The SeoulPodcast: Maple Story Edition
SeoulPodcast on the front cover of GROOVE

What’s this…?

It looks like the SeoulPodcast is headlining Groove Magazine, along with another obviously satisfied listener.

And they picked the great douchebag pic of Joe in his “Santori Time” pose.
You can get Groove on the cashier’s counter of many restaurants and bars in Seoul, particularly Itaewon. And while you’re at it, get a copy of the latest issue of 10 Magazine, where Joe is now the resident food writer.

“For relaxing times, make it SeoulPodcast time.”
Calling Wannabe Podcasters
News View CommentsWe’re looking to expand the Asia Podcast Network family a bit by adding some new shows to the network. There are a few that we are specifically working to create. They don’t have names yet. If you want to participate here’s what we’re looking for.
Commentary Show
Each week or so, we feature a guest commentary or a small debate. This is bluntly an audio editorial done by whoever has a bone to pick.
Events Show
This is an exciting one we’ve been toying with for a while. Originally, we were going to have one person doing the whole show, but there are so many types of activities, it would be better to make it a group compilation show. Each PJ (Podcast Jockey?) covers a specific niche, such as clubs, festivals or the arts. You research and put together a short piece covering the scheduled events in your niche, and we splice all of them together into a cohesive show.
Variety Show
Have a song you want to share? A band you want to promote? Have you put together a comedy skit? The expat community has talent. Share your talent with world (okay, not the world but a larger audience than if you played at a small club).
What do you need?
- Some means to record your voice. Especially for the Events Show, you should use a decent quality microphone. USB mic/headsets are good. Record your voice on whatever software you feel comfortable with. If necessary, I can record you remotely using Skype.
- Professionalism and reliability. Okay, maybe not professionalism. All I ask is that if you promise to do something don’t cancel at the last minute.
Also, if you have an idea for a show please share it. We have had a good bit of experience in setting up the SeoulPodcast, and we could help you out.
