LA sucks! I prefer Busan to Seoul, because it’s about size with the same population as Baltimore. Also, the way the mountains lie, villages seem isolated, contributing to a small town feeling. Seoul just feels like a sprawling blob.
The 10-year mark is also the point when teachers in the US generally start changing careers. I wonder how many teachers in general go on to have a full 25+ year career.
YIKES! I work for DS(amsung)ME! But Lee Kun-hee’s no reflection on me! But, I’m a team player?! I’m so sad…

Creperie? It sounds like a Potemkin Village, fit for photographs, but little else.

I would think many Koreans would think “V” is an anti-imperialistic but of woo. I wonder how many young Koreans believe reptiles rule the world? I hop not, and that it’s just a loopy western thing!

I should warn before anyone finishes that for some unexplained reason, our final goodbyes were not recorded, so the ending may sound a bit abrupt.

One of my frustrations with online grad study was frequent site crashes. I later found out, that South Korean hacker actively targeted the university servers. I had to change my IP address, and downgrade its quality. But, KT, my ISP, refused even to help the university with the problem.

I hate to admit, because it might be my reputation as a “tough”teacher, but what Stephannie narrated about “tarts” happened to me at least every semester, with the assist from another professor or department administrator occurring once a year at least. One year I just let a Korean professor assign his own “makeup” (wink wink), after my boss intervened. Contract re-signing never entered in, though.

Catching up and want to say good podcast and nice to hear from Karl but TWO podcasts without Jennifer? That’s just not right.
Also wanted to mention that the Cuba Thorntree is full of nasty people making nasty comments to the point that I won’t even look at it any more. It is populated by gringoes who visit Cuba a lot and want everyone to know that they know more about Cuba than the next guy. I worked as a lawyer and lived full time in Cuba for 13 years and I would have some schmo from Nebraska arguing Cuban law with me. I think that you may have the same problem … know-it-alls with self-esteem issues.

Oh, Kushibo’s not a big problem. Just the self-appointed professor who has to ruin the party by condescending to the host and guests.

Finally finished the podcast … phew. Just wanted to say that Stephanie White was a great happy show guest and it would be great to hear her again!
