Joe, your sponsor bit at the top was really funny. Great timing. Great sound fx. As I noted at some point on Brian’s facebook, lots of these cancellations are being blamed on swine flu but it seems to me that could well be a face saving excuse. They don’t want to admit the down economy means they can’t afford to stage the festivals.

Forgive me for enumerating AND trashing Joe, but I have a class in 45 minutes:
1. The three of you pushed the edge with the rape bit. The point is, rape is violence. It has nothing to do with gender. And, that’s the segue to the harassed female teacher. The joke about corporal punishment glanced there.
2. Speaking of men committing violence, speaking is not violence. I’d rather listen to a racist than have to stop one from some violent action. The epithets case is pathetic. It doesn’t even glance at the institutional problems, and as much as anyone extols this “victory”, racists can use it for propaganda. Let the racists keep talking, record them, broadcast it on the foreign press! The last thing I want is a checklist of words and phrases I can’t use in public.
3. F*@k VaNK! F@8k London guy! We don’t need a teacher’s union in Korea and we don’t need a gatekeeper for blogs! What is this, Choson? DPRK? Oh right, it’s the less authoritarian half of the peninsula!

I could not figure out where I heard the name Revere from for the first bit of the podcast, until you mentioned the book. The previous teacher left a copy of it for me at my school, it’s a great book. (Not that I can actually speak Korean now…)
