Joseph - as far as I can recall it's free to get an Apple ID, but if you want to make purchases in the iTunes Music Store you have to have a credit card from the country you are registering with. i.e. American iTunes, American card.
2 ways around this, Korean iTunes Music Store (doesn't require a credit card because you can't buy any music, but you can download free podcasts etc) or do a search for iTunes gift certificate number. You can "redeem" a zero-value gift voucher and register that way.
Still, not that convenient

Play the crazy foreigner card. Ajummas play the crazy ajumma card and ajussis play the ajussi card too. I play the crazy gyopo card. Koreans tend to defer to alpha display. That's why drunken Korean men will shout and posture and shove for half an hour before throwing a punch. Escalate the display and be really direct and most will back down.

Seriously. If you're at a part of town you've never been and someone's being a jerk, punch his ass out and leave. All you roundeyes look about the same, and unless you're wearing a really nice pair of Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses or Louis Vuitton murse, the guy you knocked out won't be able to pick you out of a lineup.

Happy Birthday Seoul Podcast! Joe, Jennifer and Stafford, great show. I don't know about your other listeners but I don't only listen because of your guests and special topics. You guys have great chemistry and it is very interesting to hear you just shooting the s**t.

I have a question about Korea, if an old lady buds into line right in front of you, are you allowed to elbow her in the head (I'm Canadian, the land where hockey players can conduct surgery with their elbows)?

iTunes requires membership in Apple TV or AOL to post comments on the Seoul Podcast iTunes site. That membership requires a credit card number for registration. Screw that! I used Google Reader to access your site as an alternative after listening to the discussion on this episode. Perhaps others have reached the same conclusion not to register on iTunes.
